A paper presented at the Montreal 2009 joint dairy science meeting that was funded and subsequently widely distributed by Elanco claims that the American Medical Association, the American Cancer Society and the American Association of Pediatrics endorse the safety of rbGH. It also claims the endorsement of 17 other unspecified leading public health organisations in the United States. A coalition of consumer groups has pointed out that many of these claims are not accurate, however, and that the AMA, the ACS and the AAP have no policies on rbGH. The Bioscience Resource Project has also established that of the remaining 17 organisations, some have only tenuous connections to public health.
